- Tonight's Champions League fixtures

Born in Liege in 1989, Axel Witsel joined Standard's prolific youth system when he was nine and was promoted to the first-team in 2006 at the age of 17.

With 16 goals in 82 appearances for the Liege first-team and one goal in his nine appearances for Belgium, Witsel has successfully adapted his defensive-minded game and can now operate anywhere in midfield.

After serving an 11 game ban for a horrific leg-breaking tackle on Anderlecht's Marcin Wasilewski, Witsel should come up against the in-form Cesc Fabregas when Arsenal host Standard Liege in the Champions League later this evening.
