Sutton bid kicked out

Attempts to bring John Sutton back to Saints look doomed after Hearts rejected a loan bid for the 28-year-old striker. Sutton had a successful spell in Paisley between 2005 and 2007.

It emerged last week that we were looking to sign Sutton, who has fallen out of favour at Tynecastle despite only moving there in the summer. Saints boss Danny Lennon today confirmed that he had indeed made an offer to sign him on loan but this had been turned down, presumably because they wanted us to pay more of his wages than we could allow.

With Jon McShane leaving on loan this week we desperately need a new striker and Sutton would have been the ideal man for the job. However it seems that - for the time being at least - he won't be coming back. Perhaps things will change as the transfer window progresses.
