    Strikers frustrate MacPherson

    01 Dec 2008 - 11:12:46

Boss Gus MacPherson was again left to rue a lack of sharpness in front of goal after seeing St Mirren drop to the foot of the SPL due to a 2-0 loss at home to Dundee United.

The Buddies have scored just ten goals in 16 league games this term, despite the presence of the likes of Dennis Wyness, Craig Dargo and Jim Hamilton.

MacPherson said: "We can't turn around and say we'll find a better quality striker in January that's not wanted and who is better than the proven goalscorers that we've got.

"We've just got to try to keep creating the chances and hopefully the strikers will take them. We played some decent stuff to make them, but we have to take them.

"I said to the players that they step up to the plate and play in the hardest position in football. They have proven they can do it in recent years.

"At this moment, when they are put in front of goal, they seem to freeze. We have just got to keep trying to create chances."
