Brown demands Dundee consistency
Dundee manager John Brown has challenged his side to repeat their Kilmarnock heroics as they continue their bid to stay in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League with a match against St Mirren.
They head for Paisley knowing anything less than a victory will see them relegated back to the First Division but can go there buoyed by their recent 2-1 win away to Killie which prolonged their stay in the top flight.
Interim boss Brown said: "We can go there with every confidence.
"We played really well away to Kilmarnock so we're looking for a similar type of display and result.
"We know what is at stake so it's up to us to go there and give everything.
"We're only thinking positively in our present situation.
"There's no point thinking otherwise as we have to stay upbeat and the players are certainly that.
"We're looking forward to the match and will try to get the three points as we do in every game."
Dundee welcome back full-back Gary Irvine from suspension but goalkeeper Rab Douglas is still missing following his thigh injury.
Long-term absentees Stephen O'Donnell (knee) and Jamie McCluskey (Achilles) remain on the sidelines.
St Mirren boss Danny Lennon knows the hosts will have to be on their mettle.
"Dundee are fighting for their lives but have lost just once in their last five games. However, it's the last chance saloon for them," said Lennon.
"We have our own agenda, though. We want to pick up three valuable points and help us climb the table.
"We need to show the siege mentality, that gladiator mentality, because they are trying to get as close to the teams above them as they can and we are the nearest ones to them, so it's either us or them."
St Mirren striker Esmael Goncalves will serve the final game of his two-match ban.
The Portuguese frontman was handed the suspension after TV pictures proved he took a dive to win the Buddies a penalty in last month's meeting with Celtic in Paisley.
