Saints seal Thomson swoop
31 Dec 2008 - 08:20:48
St Mirren have agreed a deal with Brighton to sign midfielder Steve Thomson in the January transfer window.
Thomson, 30, will return to his native Scotland on a two-and-a-half-year contract after a brief spell with the Seagulls.
"We have agreed a deal with Steven Thomson and his present side Brighton," Saints boss Gus MacPherson told his club's official website.
"Steven is a midfielder - an area where we have been a wee bit short lately and we felt needed to be strengthened to give us a few more options.
"He will bring a wee bit more competitiveness into the midfield area as well as bringing a fresh face into the squad that will undoubtedly lift everybody.
"Jack Ross, who played beside Steven at Falkirk, speaks very highly of him and how many of us can forget the great goal he scored against us when we lost 5-1 to Falkirk last season.
"We're delighted to get Steven in and we all look forward to working with him."
