No deal for Dwyer
A bid to bring Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer to Saints on a short term loan has fallen through, while another loan player has returned and two have left.
Dwyer spent the last few weeks training with the Buddies in a bid to win a loan move to get him ready for the new MLS season. Manager Danny Lennon was impressed by the 22-year-old and wanted to sign him on loan for a few months, but the plug has been pulled by both the club and the league.
This is rather odd considering Sporting Kansas City were happy enough to let him come over in the first place in a bid to win the deal, so goodness knows what has caused them to change their change of mind. With a similar loan for Scotland striker Kenny Miller also a no go, Lennon will need to look elsewhere if he still wants to boost his firepower.
The last few days have seen Jason Naismith return from his loan spell at Morton, where he made just three starts since the season began. Mark Lamont is also back after his second spell at Dumbarton - where he played rather more games than Naismith - and has now been let go by the club, having played just one game for the Saints first team.
As hinted at in yesterday's match report, Paul Dummett has also left Saints to return to parent club Newcastle. It is hoped he can return on another loan deal but if not it will leave Lennon with another unexpected position to fill.
