Mac expects Dorman upturn

St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson is confident that midfielder Andy Dorman will return to the form which made him one of the hottest properties in the SPL.

The 27-year-old has struggled for form in the opening weeks of the new campaign, but registered his first goal in the midweek cup win at Kilmarnock.

MacPherson told The Herald: "We know what he's capable of, he gets goals from midfield.

"He has always been in our thoughts when we decide what team we are going with, he is always someone that you are looking at. But he has had a slow start by his own admission.

"He is certainly one you know what you have got. When he is on form, he will always be in those areas to get chances. We said it a lot last season, invariably when he gets into those positions, he can finish.

"It could be a factor that with all the speculation, he thought that something would happen. You just don't know, only the player can answer that.

"We can only judge what we see in games and training."
