Innes keen on Buddies stay

Veteran defender Chris Innes is hoping to be offered a new contract by St Mirren, with his current deal running out at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old joined the Buddies last summer from Livingston and is enjoying life back in the SPL.

He told the Daily Record: "I do feel a little bit like I'm having a new lease of life.

"You should always push yourself and, even at 33 years of age, I feel the fittest, strongest and fastest I have done at any point in my career.

"I'm also the hungriest I have ever been and perhaps that's because I saw the other side of things over the past four years.

"My contract is up in the summer and nothing has been discussed, but you have to go out and perform well to ensure you impress people.

"I would love to stay here because I have enjoyed it, but you need to see where the chips fall in the summer."
