Howard extends Buddies stay

Goalkeeper Mark Howard has signed a new two-year contract to keep him at St Mirren until the summer of 2011.

The 22-year-old joined the Buddies in the summer of 2007, having previously played in Scotland during a loan spell with Falkirk.

Howard started his career with Arsenal, but failed to make a first-team impact with the Gunners and was also loaned out to both Cardiff City and Swansea City.

The Englishman is set to be the first choice at St Mirren Park for the foreseeable future, with Chris Smith having been ruled out for around 12 months due to a serious knee injury.
