Hamilton targets cup glory
16 Jan 2009 - 11:00:46
St Mirren striker Jim Hamilton believes the in-form Buddies have what it takes to enjoy a long run in the Scottish Cup this season.
Gus MacPherson's side, who are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions, face either Inverurie Locos or Motherwell at next month's fifth round stage after beating Brechin City 3-1 earlier this week.
Hamilton told the Paisley Express: "Hopefully, we can go further in the Scottish Cup than we did last year. That's our main aim. If we beat Motherwell or Inverurie then we're in the quarter-finals.
"We don't yet know who we'll play in the next round. Everybody will say it's going to be Motherwell but you have to give Inverurie credit.
"No matter who we play, it's an opportunity for us to go further in the competition.
"We've managed five wins from our last six games and the other one has been a draw, so it keeps our run going."
