Dorman secures Mac backing

St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson believes that midfielder Andy Dorman is finally beginning to hit top form following a slow start to the new season.

The 26-year-old was one of the Buddies' star performers last term, but has struggled for form and fitness in the opening months of the new SPL campaign.

However, MacPherson was pleased with Dorman's performance and goal in the 2-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle.

He told the Paisley Daily Express: "We've said for some weeks that Andy Dorman is looking more like himself.

"He's certainly a threat from the middle of the park with the runs he makes and once he gets into those areas, he's got great composure.

"We had to explain to him that his game is based on his fitness, but he's missed a considerable amount of pre-season and he's only going to get his fitness through matches.

"But that's certainly looking like him being back to his best now."
