    Dargo ends Buddies hoodoo

    04 Oct 2009 - 11:17:47

St Mirren striker Craig Dargo was the hero of the hour as his side finally recorded a home league victory at their new St Mirren Park ground.

The Buddies had not won on home soil in the SPL since their January switch from Love Street, but Dargo's impressive volley helped secure a 2-1 win over visiting Hearts.

Boss Gus MacPherson said after the game: "I think the headlines will be that it was a goal fit to win any game. That's the easy way to describe it.

"It was great technique to finish like that, but we know that's what he is capable of doing.

"Craig will tell you we don't create many chances for him, but he is a pest to play against, he's got real belief in his ability. His goalscoring record is good and that was why we brought him to the club.

"He was a bit unfortunate with injuries last season, but this season he has looked strong and sharp and is as moody as ever when he's not involved.

"That's what we want, it means he is passionate and he is a good player to have here."
