    Dargo boosts Buddies boss

    13 Jan 2008 - 15:59:04

St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson was pleased to see summer signing Craig Dargo complete the full 90 minutes of the 3-0 Scottish Cup fourth round win over Dumbarton.

The 30-year-old striker made just his third appearance since joining the Saints, having been plagued by knee problems since his switch from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

MacPherson said after the game: "It's 90 minutes and it's a fitness exercise for him. He will benefit from that in the coming weeks.

"I think a fit Craig Dargo would have scored a couple of the half-chances that he had, but he will get the long-term benefit."

Meanwhile, midfielder Andy Dorman also showed up well on his debut for the Buddies.

"It was just a case of getting him some time on the park," MacPherson added.

"He is still short of match fitness but, from what we have seen in training and in flashes here, I think he will be a good acquisition for the squad."
