Dargo blow for Buddies

St Mirren striker Craig Dargo has suffered knee ligament damage and is unlikely to feature in Saturday's opening day clash with Motherwell.

The former Kilmarnock star strained a ligament during a closed-doors friendly against Clyde at Broadwood.

Buddies boss Gus MacPherson told the Paisley Daily Express: "It's very frustrating for him because he's only just come back from a thigh problem that he had earlier in pre-season.

"Now he has this knee problem and it's a big disappointment for him."

Defenders Ian Maxwell and Eddie Malone are also major doubts for Saturday's game after suffering knee injuries in pre-season, while a foot injury means midfielder Craig Molloy is sidelined until September.
