Danny wants a forward

Published: 21 Dec 2011 - 18:53:12

Strikers may have caused chaos across the country a few weeks ago but that hasn't put Saints boss Danny Lennon off the idea of adding one to his squad next month.

Despite having attacking players such as Steven Thompson, Nigel Hasselbaink and Paul McGowan in our squad we have the second lowest "goals for" tally in the SPL and one of the lowest in Scotland. Therefore, another striker would come in handy - and was something I said we needed in the summer. Thankfully, Lennon seems to agree.

He said: “Some of our football has been really breathtaking but our overall play deserves more goals so up front is one area I’ll try to strengthen during the transfer window.”

This is an interesting change of heart from the Saints boss as a few weeks ago he said there would be no players coming in next month. However, the imminent departure of Illias Haddad may have freed up some funds - although a fair number of fans would like to see that spent on a defender rather than a striker.
