Buddies waiting for Dargo

St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson has dismissed reports suggesting that striker Craig Dargo has suffered a new setback in his recovery from a knee injury.

The 29-year-old has yet to feature for the Buddies, with MacPherson forced to play a waiting game before fielding his major summer signing.

He told the Paisley Express: "Craig suffered a setback about four weeks ago, but there's been no further upsets. All he can do at the moment is rest."

Better news comes with a return to full training by Eddie Malone, who has also been sidelined since the summer with a knee problem.

"I'd hoped to be back much sooner than this, but I've been in a similar position to Ian Maxwell and Craig Dargo in that there have been some setbacks," Malone admitted.

"Once they found out what was wrong, I just had to rest and let the injury clear up and thankfully now it has, I can concentrate on football."
