Buddies suffer Haining blow

St Mirren defender Will Haining will spend at least the next six weeks on the sidelines with a torn muscle in his left foot.

The 26-year-old picked up the injury in last month's defeat against Celtic and was sent to a specialist to confirm the extent of the problem.

Buddies boss Gus MacPherson told the Paisley Express: "Will's out for at least six weeks at best. He has to rest it completely for the next four weeks and then let nature take its course.

"It's been an ongoing problem and he's had a couple of injections recently but it's not settled down.

"It's obviously disappointing for Will as no player likes missing games, whether it's because they're injured or because they're left out of the team, and the most disappointed people in these situations are the players themselves."
