Buddies seek Lappin stay

St Mirren are keen to fend off reported interest in midfield star Simon Lappin from Championship side Norwich City.

Lappin has been a consistent performer for the Buddies this season in the SPL and chairman Stewart Gilmour is desperate to hold on to the 24-year-old.

He said: "We're trying to get players into the club, not move them out.

"The club is in the kind of healthy financial position where we could afford to turn down money for any of our players.

"We've got plenty of money and it would require a big transfer fee before we'd be tempted to let Simon break his contract."
