Buddies chance delights Hegarty
02 Sep 2010 - 15:29:51
New St Mirren signing Nick Hegarty has admitted it wasn't a difficult decision to team up with the club once manager Danny Lennon showed an interest.
The 24-year-old has signed until the end of the season after impressing during a trial spell and he is pleased with the professionalism at St Mirren Park.
"When the offer of a deal with St Mirren was made, I didn't even have to make a decision - it was a no-brainier.
"As soon as I arrived here a couple of weeks back, I was dead keen on signing. Everything about St Mirren is how a football club should be.
"It's not just the new stadium and the training ground, it's the attitude of everyone around the place. It's ultra professional.
"Everything is geared towards winning, whether that be first team games or in training. Danny's philosophy is to get the ball down and to pass it about.
"The last couple of managers I had at Grimsby were more direct and that was not how I really wanted to play so, with that in mind, signing for St Mirren was an easy choice."
