Bairns wait on Sutton

St Mirren striker John Sutton is on the wanted list of Falkirk, but Bairns head coach John Hughes is prepared to wait to make his move.

Sutton has been offered a new deal by the Buddies, but is likely to leave if they fail to beat the drop.

Hughes said: "We have spoken to John Sutton's agent just to tell him of our interest. He is a player we admire.

"If we are going to take it any further, the next step will be letting St Mirren know that we are 100 per cent interested.

"We will be doing it by the book and asking to speak to John.

"I think it will mean having to wait until the end of the season to speak to him, because I think John Sutton can score goals to keep St Mirren in the SPL."
