Another cup row

Published: 12 Mar 2010 - 19:12:12

We've had the dispute between the Saints players and the board about the win bonus for the League Cup victory over Hearts, now we've got an argument about the lack of a post-match party for the cup final. According to a couple of today's papers, no plans have been made for a party for the players following next weekend's final against Rangers - regardless of the result. When this came to the board's attention, they tried to book the Glynhill Hotel, which is used for all the club's functions. However, it was booked, while St. Mirren Park is in use for hospitality. As a result, the players have decided to organise their own, separate event. This all seems rather odd. Yes, the board could have used another hotel, but is it really that big a deal? And we do have another game just a few days after the final, so a big drinking session is not ideal. Looks like the media are bracing themselves for another attempt to destablise us ahead of a huge game against Rangers.
