Saints snap up Enckelman

St Johnstone have agreed a two-year contract with veteran Finland international goalkeeper Peter Enckelman.

The 33-year-old former Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers man was a free agent after leaving Cardiff City and has opted to try his luck in the SPL.

He told the club's official website: "It's been a whirlwind few days but it has gone well.

"I was surprised to play on Saturday (against Real Valladolid) after just one training session, but I really enjoyed the game.

"Once I had met the manager and the rest of the lads it was not a hard decision to make.

"I'm ready to play against Hearts if called to do so and am looking forward to the challenge."
