McInnes happy with Davidson

St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes is confident that the £50,000 paid to Livingston for midfielder Murray Davidson will prove to be money well spent.

The 21-year-old has scored twice in four games for the Saints since his summer arrival and has quickly repaid the faith shown in him by McInnes.

The boss told the Perthshire Advertiser: "Every penny is a prisoner in the current financial climate, but I'm convinced it will prove to be a shrewd bit of business by the club.

"I thought Murray would make an impression in the SPL, but there aren't many midfielders with two goals in the first three games.

"I knew he would prove a good addition to our squad. Aside from the goals, his performances have been very good."
