Fog puts paid to Saints manager Lomass debut

Published: 07 Nov 2011 - 19:47:01

Steve Lomas was left frustrated on Monday as his first match in charge of Scottish Premier League high-flyers St Johnstone against Aberdeen was postponed because of heavy fog.

Match referee Steven McLean took the decision to call off the match when he arrived at St Johnstone's ground three hours before kick-off.

Lomas, 37, was a surprise choice last week as the replacement for Derek McInnes, who left to manage English Championship (second-tier) side Bristol City last month.

The one-time Northern Ireland midfielder had been coaching the reserves of one of his former clubs, West Ham United, having previously managed non-league outfit St Neots Town.
