Kelly not worried by home form

St Mirren defender Sean Kelly insists the Buddies are not scared of playing in front of their own supporters.

Tommy Craig's side have lost all five of their Scottish Premiership clashes at St Mirren Park this term.

And the Paisley public have also been starved of goalmouth action, with Kenny McLean's strike in the 2-1 defeat to Celtic last month the only time they have found the back of the net in front of the home fans this season.

But Kelly says it is their opponents' tactics and not the pressure of playing on home soil which has hampered Saints.

He told Press Association Sport: "It's not at the stage where it is worrying us yet. Obviously we need to improve and quickly. Hopefully we will get the result we need this weekend because it is a big game.

"If we get that one result, we will kick on from there. But we need to go out and get it.

"I'm not sure why we have struggled at home. Everyone is together here - the players, the manager and the fans. We all have a common goal which is to win games.

"It's just one of those things really. Once we get that win, that will be the burden out of the road.

"Obviously all our points have come away from home so far but I don't think that has got anything to do with the fans or the stadium or the pressure of playing at home. It's just a coincidence.

"Some teams can find it easier playing away from home but that's not the case here. We prefer playing at home because you have got your own fans backing you. They give you the extra energy to keep going.

"Away from home there is less expectation on you but at home, teams will come in and make it tough and then it's up to us to break them down."

Craig is set to be without five of his players once again when the Paisley side host Ross County on Saturday.

Skipper Steven Thompson is out for the long term with a groin injury, while Gary Teale (knock) and Isaac Osbourne (shin) are also sidelined.

Gregg Wylde is also out of the Scottish Premiership clash following groin surgery while Ellis Plummer is touch and go with a groin pull of his own.

Ross County boss Jim McIntyre will have to do without four first-team names for Saturday's trip.

The Scottish Premiership basement boys are missing Uros Celcer (hamstring), Steven Saunders (ankle), Tim Dreesen (back) and Rocco Quinn (hip).

Recent signing Terry Dunfield has shaken off a groin pull to declare himself fit, while fellow new recruits Jamie Reckord and Martin Woods still await their Staggies debuts.

Ross County defender Graham Carey hopes to bury a string of poor performances against former club St Mirren by dragging the Buddies into a relegation scrap.

Left-back Carey enjoyed two spells with the Paisley club but admits he has failed to shine on his return to St Mirren Park since his Dingwall move last year.

The Irishman admits he may have suffered from a physiological block when facing his old team-mates.

But with the Scottish Premiership's bottom club now due to face Saints in Paisley this weekend, Carey is determined to do better and drag his side level with the Tommy Craig's side, currently three points in front.

He said: "I've not really had a particularly good game against St Mirren when I have gone back down there - but I would like to put that right this weekend.

"I've let myself down when I have played against them. Maybe that's a psychological thing, I'm not sure.

"But I am ready for Saturday and hope I can put in a good performance this time."
