St Mirren must cope without banned Jack Baird

St Mirren are without the suspended Jack Baird for the visit of Queen of the South.

The fit-again Jason Naismith and Jim Goodwin are pushing for starting places, though.

Manager Alex Rae said: "We have had two tight games with Queen's since I came in during December and I would imagine that this one will be the same as there is little between the sides.

"Both sides are looking to hit back after losing to Raith Rovers and if my players show the spirit they displayed when we moved from 4-1 down to 4-3 and chasing a point then we have a decent chance of getting a win."

Queen of the South can add Mark Millar to their travelling party following his suspension.

The visitors' only doubt will be top goalscorer Derek Lyle, who has a groin injury.

Manager James Fowler is looking for a big improvement from his side after a 2-0 defeat from Raith Rovers in midweek.

He explained: "It was disappointing in Kirkcaldy as we never started at the right tempo or intensity. No-one in my squad can complain if they are not involved after that game. We did not close their players down quickly enough and I will be making changes to help us against a St Mirren side who have improved under Alex Rae."
