Mair set for Saints return

Lee Mair is set to return to the St Mirren squad ahead of their Scottish Premiership game against Motherwell.

The defender was told he was free to find a new club but did not leave the Paisley side before the transfer deadline and comes back into contention.

Boss Danny Lennon has no injury concerns ahead of the visit of the Steelmen on Saturday.

Jim Goodwin insists Saints are ready to resurrect their season after holding "clear-the-air" talks after their poor start.

The Paisley club have yet to record a win this term and head into the weekend action second bottom.

They suffered a home defeat to newly-promoted Partick Thistle in their last outing and Goodwin believes the international break was a timely opportunity to address their problems.

The Saints skipper said: "I think the break came at the right time for us to be honest.

"We were on a really poor run and it's given us a week or two to have a couple of team meetings, a few clear-the-air meetings, to get a few things out in the open and just start again.

"The season starts for us against Motherwell.

"We have been very disappointed up until now and we have worked really hard on the training ground over the last couple of weeks.

"Hopefully it will all come to fruition on Saturday."

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall has a selection dilemma at right-back.

Simon Ramsden is suspended after his red card against Kilmarnock and natural replacement Fraser Kerr is out with a back injury.

Young defender Euan Murray remains on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
