Goodwin ready for St Mirren start

St Mirren manager Alex Rae has a full squad to choose from for the visit of Falkirk with club skipper Jim Goodwin pushing for a start after nearly four months out with an ankle injury.

The Saints lost 1-0 to Rangers on Saturday, with Rae keen to build on the positives he saw, saying: "We wanted the players to go to a challenging environment and show that they are a good group.

"They did that and more so, whilst it was disappointing, there were things to be proud of. We will look for the same standard of performance against a good Falkirk side."

The Bairns will be without Peter Grant due to a knee injury and Conor McGrandles, who suffered a broken leg recently, with striker Lee Miller set for a starting role.

Falkirk on Monday also announced a two-year contract extension for Aaron Muirhead, while manager Peter Houston said: "We need to put on a 90-minute performance if we are to win in Paisley.

"We were poor in the first half on Saturday and were behind to Queen of the South. The second half was much better and the introduction of Lee early in the second half lifted us. He is very much in my thoughts for starting.

"St Mirren have improved under Alex Rae and we need to be ready for that."
