St Mirren end long wait for home win as they beat struggling Alloa

St Mirren finally ended their long wait for home win in the Scottish Championship this season as they came from behind to beat basement boys Alloa 3-1.

The visitors took the lead from the penalty spot in the ninth minute after Isaac Layne's shot struck the hand of Keith Watson.

Layne, who had a spell on loan at Brechin at the back-end of 2015, made no mistake to score his first goal for the club.

Watson made amends eight minutes before the break, lashing in a left-footed effort, with Layne then blasting over an excellent opportunity to nudge Alloa back in front.

It was Saints who did score the third goal when Callum Gallagher nodded past Scott Gallacher after Lawrence Shankland's effort had deflected into the air.

Stephen Mallan sealed the points in injury-time with a breakaway effort as Saints won at home at the 10th attempt to leave Alloa rooted to the bottom.
