Late penalty wins it for Dumbarton

Garry Fleming's late penalty continued Dumbarton's winning start to the league season when they claimed a 2-1 victory at St Mirren in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship.

The visitors took the lead after 27 minutes when Willie Gibson's free-kick took a heavy deflection which took it past Mark Ridgers.

It was nearly two within minutes as Grant Gallagher found space in the box before heading wide an excellent cross from goalscorer Gibson. Gallagher soon turned and drove forward from midfield before missing the target again as Stephen Aitken's men looked to take advantage of a dominant spell.

Scott Agnew levelled for the home side as he netted against his former club after 63 minutes with a superb effort to score his third in as many games this season.

With six minutes remaining, Fleming coolly converted the spot-kick after Barry Cuddihy's foul on Kevin Cawley, sealing his side's 100 per cent start to the campaign.
