Puri dead brilliant

Saints are running the rule over Estonian international Sander Puri - and the winger could even be signed in time to feature in Sunday's League Cup Final.

The 24-year-old - who has been capped 47 times by his country - was recently on trial at Kilmarnock. He didn't sign for the Rugby Park side, although there is confusion as to why - some reports claiming he wasn't good enough, with others suggesting Killie simply couldn't afford him.

It would be a surprise if we therefore had the extra cash to sign him but Danny Lennon will spend the next few days sizing him up. You also have to wonder why we need him as our wingers have been doing fine. Maybe this would be a short term deal to have a look at him ahead of next season - it would certainly be rather harsh if he came straight in for Sunday's game. However, it didn't do Esmael Goncalves any harm for the semi-final!

As well as playing in Estonia the much travelled Puri has had spells in Greece, Poland, Hungary and Finland. He has been without a club for the last few months but did play in Estonia's recent friendly defeat to Scotland.
