Pre-season schedule announced

Newcastle, Stockport and Morecambe all feature in a Saints summer friendly list that is rather different to years gone by.

This time around there doesn't seem to be any plans to play the likes of Ayr and Dumbarton - although it's possible those games have yet to be announced. Instead, all but one of the games are against English sides.

The friendlies start on July 13 when we face Charlton during our trip to Spain. A week later Morton come to Paisley for the Renfrewshire Cup Final before we head across the border to Morecambe on July 24. That's followed by a trip to Stockport on July 27.

The big game though  is on July 30 - a few days before the season starts - when we face Newcastle. It's unlikely to be a full strength side, more a mixture of fringe players and youngsters. Interestingly, the Newcastle side quotes former Saints loan star Paul Dummett saying how much he's looking forward to playing in the game - even though neither he or Conor Newton has officially signed a new contract...

The under-20s also have a packed summer, including trips to the Gretna and Irvine tournaments and games against Albion Rovers and East Stirling, as well as a few other matches.
