No way back for Dummett

26 January 2013 03:08
Saints will need to look elsewhere for a leftback after it emerged Newcastle won't allow Paul Dummett to return for a second loan spell in Paisley.

The defender spent the first half of the season on loan at the club, returning to Newcastle after we drew with Kilmarnock at the start of the year. A few days later he made his debut for the Magpies in their FA CUp defeat to Brighton but Buddies boss Danny Lennon was still hopeful of bringing him back.

Those hopes increased this week when Newcastle signed some new defenders but it now seems Alan Pardew isn't willing to loan Dummett back to us once more - even though Newcastle and ourselves are the only teams he can play for.

This is a huge blow as we could desperately do with a natural leftback in the squad and only have until Thursday night to find one.
