No move for Grainger

Saints were today linked with a move for Hearts defender Danny Grainger - before revealing they weren't interested in him.

The leftback is available on a free after leaving Tynecastle and looks set to spend his summer training with Sheffield United as he bids to win a move down south. The 26-year-old missed the majority of last season through injury but if he could stay fit would be an asset for most SPL sides.

Newspaper reports claimed Saints were one of three clubs after the former Gretna man, but Buddies chief executive Brian Caldwell said we won't be making a move as the player wants to go to England. It's worth noting he said this when he left St Johnstone a few years ago - and promptly ended up at Hearts!

Caldwell also revealed that while he and Danny Lennon are working to bring players to the club there are unlikely to be any new arrivals soon. Two goalies, a leftback, a left winger and a striker are on the Saints manager's wish list.
