McLean back in Scotland squad

Saints midfielder Kenny McLean has won a recall to the Scotland under-21 squad after being named in the player pool for next week's qualifier against Georgia.

McLean was a bizarre omission from last month's squad but has clearly done enough since then to show under-21 boss Billy Stark he deserves his place. The game will be in familiar surroundings for the Buddie as it will take place at Greenhill Road on November 14.

Sadly, there is still no place for John McGinn in the under-21 squad. The 19-year-old has been in terrific form of late and with no under-19 game coming up, this would have seemed like the ideal chance to get him involved with the under-21s. However, as is so often the case, Stark has decided to go with a few Celtic reserve players instead.

McLean's call-up now makes it less likely Saturday's abandoned match with Ross County will be played on November 16 as the midfielder will have spent the week training with and possibly playing for his country.
