Loan stars on their way

Saints are hoping to mark the opening of the transfer window on Tuesday by having two new players in their squad for the following day's game against Kilmarnock.

One player who will definitely be coming in is Conor Newton, who will join the club on loan from Newcastle until the end of the season. The midfielder - who can also play in defence - has been training with the club for the last few weeks and will be available for the Killie game if the relevant paperwork is processed in time. Magpies team mate Paul Dummett is also expected to be at the club a little longer as his loan deal is set to be extended until the summer.

Saints boss Danny Lennon is also closing in on a loan deal for Dom Dwyer. The Sporting Kansas City forward has also been training with the club for a few weeks and is keen to join on a short term loan deal ahead of the new MLS season. However, negotiations to secure the Englishman's services are taking a little while as Saints need to strike a deal with both the club and the league.
