Late bid for McLean

Kenny McLean could yet be set for a move away from Saints before the transfer window closes with a Championship club believed to have made a bid for the midfielder.

There has been speculation about McLean leaving for the best part of a year and it was expected he would leave during this transfer window. However, an injury induced lay-off seemed to put paid to that, the 21-year-old only returning to action in last night's win over Inverness Caley Thistle.

But STV are now reporting that an unnamed Championship side has now made a verbal offer. There is no indication as to how much it is for or which club wants to sign him. Previous reports have linked Ipswich, Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Burnley with McLean, with £750,000 believed to be the minimum Saints are looking for.

Buddies boss Danny Lennon was asked about McLean's future last night and gave a classic politician's answer, suggesting there was still a possibility of him leaving - even though David van Zanten posted a picture of a tied up McLean on Twitter earlier today!

The window closes at 11pm tonight so a deal will need to be done quick and we'll bring you any news as and when we can.

One midfielder who is leaving is Graeme MacGregor. The former Bolton youngster was signed earlier in the season but has now been let go without kicking a ball for the first team.
