Isma open to return

Fans' favourite Esmael Goncalves has revealed he would be happy to have a second loan spell at Saints next season if the opportunity arose.

The Portuguese forward arrived in Paisley from Rio Ave in January and has put in some stunning performances, scoring the opener against Celtic in the League Cup semi-final and bagging the equaliser in the final. He was also named player of the round in the Scottish Cup after bagging a double against St Johnstone.

However, all good things must come to an end and Goncalves - who has missed the last two games through suspension - is due to return to Rio Ave in the summer. He wants to force his way into the first team there, which is understandable, but if he was sent out on loan again he'd be quite happy to return to the Buddies.

While it's nice to hear him say this, he probably isn't going to say he doesn't want to come back while he's still our player! There's also the small fact that he can want to come back as much as he wants but if Rio Ave don't want to let us have him there's not a lot he or we can do.

One thing that definitely won't be happening is Isma signing for us permanently, with his parent club supposedly wanting at least £500,000 for his services.
