Imrie let go

Dougie Imrie's spell at Saints has come to an end today after the forward was released - despite him having another year left on his contract.

Imrie was signed from Hamilton at the start of last year but was rarely able to come up with the sort of performances he'd so often produced against us. Whether this is because he was played out of position, he didn't suit our playingstyle or some other reason is up for debate, although in the last few months of his time at the club he wasn't getting much game time which didn't help things.

Imrie, who has also played for Clyde and Inverness Caley Thistle, was rumoured to be one of the four contracted players told he could leave so today's news dosn't come as much of a surprise. It has been an expensive deal for Saints as they paid around £35,000 for the player last January and he could well have received a pay-off today as well.

Meanwhile defender Lee Mair, another of the players who is free to leave, has revealed today he plans to stay and fight for his place next season.
