Dummett's Toon debut

05 January 2013 17:30
Paul Dummett made his first appearance for Newcastle's first team today when he was a half time substitute in the Magpies' FA Cup defeat to Brighton.

The fullback only returned to his parent club in the last few days, having played in Saints' 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock on Wednesday. Clearly he had done enough in Paisley to force his way into Alan Pardew's thinking as he was immediately put on the bench, coming on at the break in the 2-0 loss.

Well done to Paul for making his debut and hopefully this will persuade a few more youngsters from down south to come to Saints to get some first team experience.

Ironically, the news of Dummett's debut may be bad news for Danny Lennon's as Pardew may now class the Welsh under-21 player as part of his first team squad and block any attempt for him to return to Saints on loan.
