Campbell deal back on

The long running attempt to bring Newcastle youngster Adam Campbell to Saints looks set to finally go through when the transfer window opens next month.

Danny Lennon tried to borrow the striker during the summer but he was loaned to Carlisle for a month instead. He barely played, didn't score and was quickly recalled.

There are various rules about how many teams a player can represent in a year, but it seems we'll be OK to bring in the 18-year-old to Paisley in January. He'll be with us until the summer and should benefit hugely from playing alongside Steven Thompson, as it's unlikely he'll replace the veteran hitman given that there's more than half a foot distance in their respective heights!

The news was revealed on Monday by Campbell's agent Spencer Downey, who also represents Paul Dummett and Conor Newton. The latter is only on loan at us until January and while Downey says talks are ongoing to extend that deal, it seems a few English Championship clubs are interested in signing the midfielder. Hopefully both Newcastle and the player agree he can stay in Paisley where he is happy, settled and playing extremely well.
