Davidson set to return for Saints

Murray Davidson could make his return from a bout of concussion when St Johnstone host Scottish Premiership basement boys Ross County this Saturday.

The midfielder suffered a head knock against Rangers last month and sat out the win over Motherwell and draw with Dundee which followed.

However, hamstring injuries could keep out both David Wotherspoon and Gary McDonald. Tam Scobbie and Steven MacLean remain on the sidelines with long-term knee injuries.

Goalkeeper Alan Mannus said: "County are quite a different team now from when we played them at the start of the season. When I was away with the national squad a couple of the Kilmarnock lads where talking about them.

"They played them in their last match before leaving and lost 3-0 at home. The Killie boys admitted they were poor but said County were better than they had been previously.

"They have a new manager in and that can help. But to beat Killie 3-0 away was unbelievable. Any team in the league would be happy with that, so it shows how dangerous they can be now. We will need to be ready for them."

Ross County midfielder Richard Brittain feels they are starting to reap the rewards of their dedication to new manager Jim McIntyre's ideas.

County's victory at Kilmarnock means they have lost just twice in six league games, those defeats coming against Celtic and Aberdeen.

And they are looking to get off the bottom of the table for the first time this season when they take on St Johnstone.

McIntyre and assistant Billy Dodds have reshaped their squad since coming in after the exit of Derek Adams earlier in the season but long-serving Brittain feels all the players are adapting to their ideas.

"The players have to buy into it," he said. "Not just the players that have come to the club under the new manager, also the players that were here before. We are in the bottom spot and want to move out of that as quickly as possible.

"We all have to believe in the ideas they are preaching to us and I think we have done.

"The 3-0 win at Kilmarnock shows we are starting to believe what they are telling us and showing those traits during games.

"We had a fantastic result down at Kilmarnock, scored three goals away from home and kept a clean sheet, and we want to build on that against St Johnstone.

"The boys have to take great confidence from that and there was good interplay up front. Maybe we are starting to get a better understanding there."

Rocco Quinn remains on the sidelines with a long-term hip injury but County have no new injuries.
