Cummins keeps eye on the prize

St Johnstone striker Graham Cummins became an internet sensation when a clip of him trapping his eyelid in a zip went viral.

The 27-year-old suffered his mishap while changing into his training gear at Saints' training base at the University of Stirling.

A clip of Cummins struggling as the zip pinched his eyelid was posted online by team-mate Chris Millar and has been retweeted more than 600 times.

The former Preston and Exeter frontman had to go to hospital to have the tracksuit top removed but the summer signing says it would have been even more painful had he not had such thick skin.

"That definitely brought a bit of entertainment to the dressing room. It put me on the map at least," Cummins joked. "It was such a strange incident. I was literally just putting my top over my head when my eyelid got caught on the zip. I could never do it again."

Cummins netted just 10 minutes into his Saints debut on Sunday as the Perth side drew themselves level at 3-3 with Hearts at Tynecastle. But the Jambos clinched a thrilling victory on the opening weekend of the Ladbrokes Premiership with Sam Nicholson's late winner.

It was an entertaining introduction to Scottish football for Cummins but he would take a duller affair this weekend when Tommy Wright's side host Inverness if they were guaranteed three points.

He said: "Seven goals in any game is going to be great to watch and the TV company picked the perfect one to televise.

"But I'd much rather we got a boring 1-0 win against Inverness on Saturday. It probably wouldn't bring the neutrals back but we just want to pick up a win."

Saints midfielder Murray Davidson could make a surprise return to action despite fears he could be missing for three months after straining knee ligaments in their Europa League defeat to Alaskert last month.

Chris Millar is likely to miss just another week after limping off against Hearts with a pelvic issue but Steven MacLean will return from suspension. Liam Caddis (knock), Steven Anderson (broken eye socket) and Dave Mackay (hip) are definitely out.

Ross Draper has urged his Inverness team-mates to use injured defender Gary Warren as inspiration as they bid to maintain the positivity of last season.

The William Hill Scottish Cup holders have suffered a difficult start to the campaign with a European exit followed by a number of injuries and an opening day defeat to Motherwell in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

The worst moment yet was the challenge by Stephen Pearson in the 1-0 loss that saw Warren suffer a broken leg, but Draper has seen the centre-back shake off the blow already and wants the rest of the team to follow his example.

"It won't affect Gaz," Draper said. "He's old enough and stupid enough to know these injuries come around. Nine times out of 10 he would go through that tackle. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he stepped up to be captain.

"He's going to take it on the chin and he knows he will come back stronger. It was a long season last year for all the boys and especially him because he played 95 per cent of the games, so the rest will do him good and he will come back fresh and that will see him through the season."

Inverness take on St Johnstone with doubts over the likes of Carl Tremarco, Josh Meekings, James Vincent and Richie Foran, while Dean Brill remains out for the long term.
