Murray Davidson ready for Hamilton test

St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson is braced for a battle with Hamilton despite only having vague memories of his last appearance.

Davidson went off with concussion during the 3-1 defeat at Celtic Park two weeks ago following a clash of heads with Emilio Izaguirre, but he is fully fit for the visit of the Lanarkshire side.

Davidson said: "I was a bit drowsy at half-time and didn't really know where I was and then 15-20 minutes after the players went out for the second half, I can't really remember too much.

"I wasn't great on my feet but I've had enough concussions to know that after a couple of days, as long as it doesn't get any worse, it should be fine. I had a couple of days off and then managed to get a full week's training.

"I have probably had double-figures concussion so I know what it is. You just have to be careful because you don't want to start being sick."

Martin Canning's side sit fourth in the Ladbrokes Premiership following three consecutive wins, and Davidson knows they will need to work hard to match Accies.

The 27-year-old said: "When Alex Neil left, they maybe struggled a wee bit but the new manager has brought in new players and new ideas and they have started incredibly well.

"It's always a difficult game. They are always hard-working, well-organised, and if we don't play well on Saturday, we won't win the game.

"They have people like Ali Crawford who are technically very good and can hurt you in the final third, but behind that people need to win the ball and be physical and get it to him.

"So they have got people that will do the hard work, they are very hard-working and will press you. We need to look after ourselves and if we do that then I'm sure we will be fine."

Hamilton striker Carlton Morris admits the standard of the Ladbrokes Premiership has taken him by surprise.

The 19-year-old arrived on a six-month loan deal at New Douglas Park from Norwich City, encouraged by boss Alex Neil who moved to Carrow Road from Hamilton back in January.

Morris scored two goals in five appearances as improving Accies racked up a three-game winning run in the Ladbrokes Premiership before the international break.

Ahead of their trip to St Johnstone on Saturday, the England Under-19 cap said: "I am enjoying it so far and have been surprised by the quality of players we are playing against.

"We are playing against some genuinely good players so it is a good test for me.

"I didn't really know too much before I came here but now I am more clued up and have been really impressed by the standard with teams like Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts, as well as the standard of our team. We have some really good players.

"Players are physically stronger, smarter in terms of football intelligence and technically better (than I thought) as well.

"I am learning. Every week is a new experience for me and as a young lad coming through that is really good.

"It is nice to get off the mark early but as long as the team are winning and we are playing well, I am happy."

In their last outing Accies inflicted the first defeat of the season on Hearts with a dramatic 3-2 win at New Douglas Park.

Jambos defender Callum Paterson was sent off for a challenge on the Hamilton midfielder Darian MacKinnon - the red card has since been rescinded - before the home side scored two late goals.

Hamilton defender Lucas Tagliapietra claimed it was the "kind of game I love about Scottish football".

"It was the best game I have played in Scotland," said the Brazilian-born stopper, who joined Accies in January.

"It was the best atmosphere and a great game.

"I really think we deserved to win. I don't think we won because of their red card, I think we deserved it and it was great for us as a team and for our belief."
