SPL: Steve Lomas angry over Ross County's Richard Brittain stance
St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas has accused Ross County of encouraging Richard Brittain to get out of his obligation to join the Perth club in the summer.
Brittain twice netted from the spot to cancel out headed first-half goals from Steven MacLean and Murray Davidson as Sunday's game in Perth finished 2-2.
The 29-year-old has cited family reasons for his desire to rip up his pre-contract agreement he signed in January to join Saints, but Lomas suspects otherwise.
"What I have been disappointed with is that we have been made to feel like bad guys here," said Lomas.
"All we have done is offer a guy two-year security six months before his contract ends.
"I hear Derek Adams' comments and they are pretty hypocritical considering Richie was desperate to leave in January.
"It just seems to be that the goalposts have moved for Ross County and I would imagine they have been getting into him and saying 'why don't you stay here and we'll give you more money?' If that's the case just come out and say it.
"For them to think we are naive enough to realise they haven't offered him a contract... I've been in football a long time.
"At the time we gave him a contract Ross County weren't even offering one-year deals. They have done better than expected to get into the top six.
"Obviously the finances are in a lot healthier position and I would imagine they have offered Richard a two-year deal on more money than we have offered.
"If that's the case, I have always been a firm believer you play with a straight bat and come out and tell the truth and we'll see where we go.
"Don't make up things about this and that and family. I have every sympathy, being away from my kids, I understand but let's have it right, it's a two-hour drive.
"We have Wednesdays and Sundays off and, at his age, he can probably have Monday off."
