Torres suffers new setback
28 Nov 2008 - 08:11:21
Spain international Fernando Torres faces another spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring strain in Wednesday's Champions League victory against Marseille.
The 24-year-old striker has endured a stop-start season to date, starting only seven Premier League matches so far.
Fabio Aurelio picked up a calf injury in the same game, with a spokesman telling the club's official website: "Fernando has a strain in his right hamstring and will be out of action for between two and three weeks.
"Fabio has a calf strain in his left leg and will be out for two weeks."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes the Reds will get better as the season goes on.
Rafa Benitez's side remain in contention for the Premier League title and are in the last 16 of the Champions League, but Reina accepts the team are not playing particularly well.
He said: "We know that if we don't concede at home then there are many possibilities to win the game, and that's what we did against Marseille so we are happy.
"At the moment we are winning without playing brilliantly and are near the top of the league. We are also progressing in the Champions League, so let's see if we can improve that bit more and keep winning.
"We will have even more chances of winning when we start playing better, so things are very positive and I'm looking forward to reaching our best form."
