Five superstar players set to wear Nike's revolutionary Magista boots in Brazil
What better place for Nike to show off their latest footwear innovation than at the the Brazilian World Cup, one of the most watched sports in events in the world. And with a host of international stars set to wear the new Magista boots they're sure to get plenty of attention.
Below we look at five of those footballing superstars who are set to don the sock like boots at this years World Cup.
Iniesta has been at the heart of everything Barcelona and Spain have won in recent years with his sublime passing ability and exceptional footballing brain. Perpetually named in the FIFA World XI, Iniesta can dominate a game without scoring, dictating the pace and flow with his exquisite touch and ball delivery. For all these reasons and more, Iniesta was the man Nike chose to unveil the Magista.
Blessed with blistering pace, deft dribbling ability, astute reading of the game and technical skill that someone of his age rarely has, Gotze is a German wonder. He helped lead Borussia Dortmund to back-to-back Bundesliga titles before joining Bayern Munich, where he’s continued to excel under Pep Guardiola. He’s among the brightest up and coming stars in soccer today.
For Brazil, he partners Silva in defence and helped his country shock Spain and win the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. He is as talented as his locks are long.
Named to the UEFA Team of the Year for three years running, Silva starred at AC Milan before moving to PSG to lead the squad as they attempt to write a new chapter of excellence in France. He’s as reliable as they come in the centre of defence, strong in the tackle, skilled in the air and able to pose a threat at the other end of the pitch, too.
Among the finest box-to-box players in the game, Yohan Cabaye is another fantastic Frenchman who will wear the Magista. He made his name at Lille, proved he could adapt his game abroad at Newcastle United and moved to PSG in January to pursue trophies.
