Spanish papers mainly focus on today’s game against Italy.
If La Roja win they will have achieved 15 consecutive wins in official
competition, they would be the first to do so. In light of yesterday’s news
that Spain will receive rescue loans, the subheading reads “La Roja to the
rescue [This country needs something to celebrate]”
About yesterday’s matches Holland v Denmark “The Oranje gets
themselves into trouble” and the headline about Germany’s 1-0 win against
Portugal Marca say “Luck smiles upon Germany” Referring to the many chances
Portugal missed. At the bottom of the front page there is a reference to Messi’s
hat-trick against Brazil.
AS: “La Roja to the rescue”
The big headline, again, reference to Spain’s economic
problems. As assure us that “In Gdansk they are still showing optimism”.
Meanwhile Casillas says he wants to win again. This newspaper just says “Holland
is defeated by Denmark” and “Mario Gomez saves Germany’s match with a great
header”.
A BOLA: “We have the right to believe”
Portuguese papers are
not giving credit to the loss by Paulo Bento’s men, as they believe they deserved
more. We can also read the subheading “Luck turned its back on our team”.
Cristiano Ronaldo says they deserved more, but nothing is lost. Paulo Bento
says “We paid a high price for our lack of aim and luck”.
Nani and Pepe hit the crossbar and Varela missed a clear
chance facing the goal, despite this Portugal has shown they can face up to any
opponent. According to A Bola, German player Lahm admitted Joachim Low’s men
left happy with the result.

Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t give up the fight just yet “In

mate Pepe says “We were far superior to Germany on many occasions”.

About yesterday’s matches they go along the lines of other
papers, they say Denmark surprised everyone, and about Germany the headline
reads ‘Germany OK’.
