Del Bosque happy with Torres

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque believes Fernando Torres is 'progressing' during the World Cup despite an apparent lack of form.

The Liverpool striker has yet to score in South Africa after arriving at the tournament still recovering from knee surgery.

There have been calls in Spain for Torres to be dropped to the bench for Tuesday's last 16 meeting with Portugal.

However, del Bosque has given an upbeat assessment on the form and fitness of the striker.

"What's important is that he's played in the three games and has progressed in his preparation," he explained.

"He's a player who, even though he hasn't scored goals, benefits us as someone who makes it hard for opposing defences and who is always a threat to the other team. He's a very dangerous player."
