Del Bosque quashes talk of playing for draw

Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque vehemently rejected any chance of the defending champions playing for a draw against Croatia, insisting that the whole idea of a pact with their Group C rivals was repugnant to him.

A draw against the Croatians would send both sides through at the expense of Italy, but Del Bosque quashed any ideas about a pre-arranged result.

"I am not thinking for one instant about such a possibility. I believe in a clean game," insisted Del Bosque, who led the Furia Roja to the last World Cup having taken over from Euro 2008 winning coach Luis Aragones.

"I am sure that Croatia think the same way as we do. We are participating at a fiesta of European football," Del Bosque reminded reporters.
